Research in Libraries and School of Information Studies

The research expertise at Purdue Libraries include information literacy studies, evidence synthesis, research data management, as well as information studies in various disciplines including digital humanities, geospatial information, archival studies, open science, etc. Purdue Libraries faculty and research staff members collaborate with colleagues within Purdue or across universities to apply library science principles to the management of information and data. They are research and educational partners in the integration of information in learning and research projects.

Purdue Libraries promotes interdisciplinary collaborations with the emphasis of information integration in various research and learning opportunities. Our researchers are working in four Research Excellence Areas in Libraries (REALs) to provide information integration in learning, research and beyond.

Office of Undergraduate Research

A central resource to promote and expand experiential learning for undergraduate students through research experiences with skilled research mentors

Provides information and guidance on using copyrighted works for teaching and research, as well as advising on the creation and ownership of copyrighted works

Archives and Special Collections

Support the discovery, learning, and engagement by identifying, collecting, preserving, and making available distinctive collections of archives, manuscripts, and rare books

Purdue Press

The Press publishes 25 new books and 16 journals each year in addition to offering a wide array of scholarly publishing services to campus that align with the university’s priorities.

At Libraries and School of Information Studies, we are actively seeking solutions to the misinformation epidemic. One faculty member at the forefront, Dr. Matthew N. Hannah, is exploring the public impacts of information technology and the way such technology facilitates and accelerates the growth and spread of viral online conspiracy theories.

Three Libraries Faculty Awarded Research Seed Grants

The Libraries Research Council has voted to support three research seed grant proposals that will advance the Research Excellence Areas in Libraries (REALs). The selected seed grant projects will occur between now and the end of August.

Spring Undergraduate Research Conference
OUR - April 2023
The Purdue Undergraduate Research Conference is the largest showcase of undergraduate research. This judged event highlights the scholarly work and creative endeavors undergraduate students have been engaged in through oral or poster presentations.
